Is there tuition?
No, JDAL is a public charter school of the Green Bay Area Public School District. If you are a resident of the district, your education is free. If you are a non-resident and apply during the state Open Enrollment period in February, there is no tuition. If you are a non-resident and enroll outside the Open Enrollment period, then there is a tuition charge.

Are there student fees?
Yes, $65.00 a year.

What grades are at JDAL?
JDAL is for motivated, independent students in 8th-12th grade.

What does a day at JDAL look like?
JDAL is not set up like a standard school. There are no "periods," but there is structured time.



Daily Schedule

7:45 AM – 8:30 AM:  Teachers start and have common planning time.

8:30 AM – 8:45 AM:  Students start to arrive and have time to mingle before the start of the day.  Breakfast available from 8:25 to 8:40 AM.

8:45 AM-9:15 AM:  Advisory period for students/staff.

  • Mondays & Fridays are large group
  • Tuesdays - Thursdays are small group advisory periods

9:15-10:00 AM:  Academic block with ALEKS Math, English Language Arts, or content-specific seminars

10:00 AM – 11:50 AM:  Project Based Learning (PBL)

  • Research

11:45-12:20 PM:  Lunch in café

12:20 PM-2:00 PM:  Independent Reading Project

1:00-2:00 PM:  Project-Based Learning

2:00-3:00: Academic block with ALEKS Math, English Language Arts, or content-specific seminars 

3:00-3:30 PM:  Advisory time

3:30 PM:   End of school day

 

Can I still play sports?

Being a student a John Dewey, you get the best of both worlds! First, you are enrolled in a school where you take charge of your learning. Second, district students can participate in clubs and athletics at their resident school.
