About JDAL
Mission
The mission of John Dewey Academy of Learning is to provide students with a rigorous project-based curriculum and a safe, caring community in which to learn. By developing the whole person-- academically, personally, and professionally--JDAL will assist students in reaching their full potential.
Vision
Create a supportive learning environment where all students are welcomed and celebrated for the unique strengths they bring with them. Where students are consistently challenged to be their best selves and encouraged to be contributing leaders and members in their communities. A place where students embrace their greatness and learn how to share it with the world.
Project-Based Learning
John Dewey Academy of Learning is a project based charter school where students actively gain knowledge and skills by working on extended projects that involve investigating and responding to complex, world problems or challenges, often requiring them to design and develop practical solutions. The advisors guide rather than direct the process to ensure that learners are creating challenging, rigorous projects which meet or exceed learning targets.
