In this seminar we will be approaching the topic:  Rights and Responsibilities in History.  Questions that should be addressed in the discussion portion of this task include:  Who decides who has rights?  Does everyone have the same rights? Who decides on the limits individuals should or should not have? Why?  What led to establishing certain rights, and to whom were they given?  How have people, governments, or institutions decided what parameters should be set to enforce responsibilities?  How are such decisions justified?   -How does this idea and these questions connect to the bigger world?  Why should we care?

Targets will vary based on project, most will be centered around social studies targets for both HS and MS

To Fish or not to Fish?6

Students will research both commercial and recreational fishing impacts on biodiversity and the economy in Wisconsin.  Science literacy is a focus of this seminar so students will learn to read and write like a scientist.  We will examine species of fish found in Wisconsin and look at how commercial and recreational fishing influence those populations. Students will be able to explain why there are different fishing seasons and regulations for both commercial and recreational fishing in the state.  There is a possibility that fish farming and fish hatcheries will be studied along with aquaponic systems and how they could be used to solve food supply issues.
